Final funding windows for Loss of Mains works?
The Energy Networks Association (ENA) has opened what may be the the final funding windows for renewable energy generators to obtain funding for mandatory Loss of Mains upgrades. With funding available on a first-come-first-served basis, those who do not take advantage of these funding windows may be faced with bills of £4,000 or more. Locogen is encouraging all those affected to act quickly to secur ethis funding. So far, we have processed more than 200 applications on behalf of our clients - at no cost to them.
Accelerated Loss of Mains Change Programme Background
The Accelerated Loss of Mains Change Programme (ALOMCP) is an industry-led project by the Energy Networks Association (ENA) and the National Grid ESO to accelerate compliance of existing generators with the new loss of mains protection requirements. The purpose is to upgrade Loss of Mains (LoM) protection for renewable electricity generators such as wind turbines, hydro schemes and solar photovoltaics, to reduce needless tripping and interruption to the energy supply.
This may affect those with a renewable electricity generator installed before February 2018.
The ENA has provided a funding pot to pay for the necessary changes. But this is time-limited and payments are made on a first-come-first-served basis. Once the funding is gone, generators will have to pay for the works themselves. Costs can be up to £4,000 per generator, so it makes sense to act now.
- Funding Window 5 is now open for applications – 12th August to 10th November.
- Funding Window 6 will open from 11th November 2020 to 9th February 2021. But remember – this is subject to funding remaining after Window 5.
Fast Track Funding
If you have a site with registered capacity between 500 kW and 5MW, you may be eligible for a fast track payment of £5,000.
