Aberdeen City Hydrogen Energy Storage (ACHES)
Locogen are supporting the development of green hydrogen in an advisory role to Aberdeen City Council. A range of renewable energy options that could be connected into their newest hydrogen refuelling station at Cove, Aberdeen are being investigated.
Ian McLean, Locogen’s project lead stated: “it is great to be looking at ways to further improve the sustainability benefits of this emerging market; green hydrogen has significant potential in the decarbonisation of Scotland’s electricity, transportation and heating demand”.
The Aberdeen City Hydrogen Energy Storage (ACHES) facility was officially opened in March this year, and has four electric recharging points with the potential to produce 130kg of hydrogen per day and enable fast refuelling. Ten buses and a variety of vans and cars are already in operation, with more expected to be added this year.
