Kintradwell Estate, Brora, Scotland
System Size: 100 kW
Expected Annual Generation: 494,000 kWh
The Kintradwell Estate is on the east coast of Scotland just north of Brora, adjacent to the A9. The estate’s hydro scheme is a high-head ‘run-of-river’ installation which collects water from the upper reaches of the Kintradwell burn. The project was developed by the Billet family, owners of the estate.
Locogen provided design and consenting services and turbine procurement advice for the scheme. This included stakeholder consultation, flow monitoring and management of the ecological surveys, throughout the planning and CAR (Controlled Activity Regulations) application processes. The system was commissioned in March 2012.
