JJ Food Service
Enfield and Sidcup, England
System Size: 500 kWp across both sites
Expected Annual Generation: 442,000 kWh
JJ Food Service Limited are an established food wholesaler, supplying restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, universities, local authorities and the general public with a range of fresh, chilled, ambient and frozen products. They have eight wholesale depots around the UK, all with very high energy use owing to the packaging and cold storage facilities at the sites.
The company approached Locogen to provide options for renewable energy across their sites as a way to offset their reliance on grid electricity, boost their environmental performance and secure a new revenue stream for the business through the Feed-in Tariff (FiT).
Roof-mounted solar offered the best potential across the company’s property portfolio, and Locogen were appointed to design, secure consent for, install and commission a 250kWp ‘pilot’ system at JJ Foods’ headquarters in Enfield, which was completed in October 2015.
The company were delighted with the project and moved straight on to their next system, a 250kWp installation at their Sidcup depot, which Locogen fully commissioned in early 2016.
