East Memus Farm, Angus, Scotland

System Size: 400 and 500 kW

Expected Annual Generation: 2,600,000 kWh

Locogen were commissioned by the landowner to develop a medium-scale wind energy project at East Memus Farm in Angus. As the region had minimal wind development and a high level of assumed sensitivity, Locogen carried out initial consultation with Angus Council’s Planning Department and key stakeholders to ensure all concerns were fully addressed in the subsequent formal planning works.

Planning consent was initially granted (under delegated powers) for a single wind turbine in summer 2011. Due to local grid constraints only 400kW capacity was available for this project.

The council subsequently granted permission for a second turbine, requiring a separate grid connection further to the south; 500kW was secured for this.
